The Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) is a leading medical association dedicated to advancing education and innovation in interventional radiology.  

With over 30 events annually – including large-scale congresses, in-person workshops, and webinars – CIRSE needed a solution that could keep up with the volume and complexity of their event schedule. 

The Challenge

CIRSE previously relied on a suite of disconnected tools from one vendor. While each tool served a specific function, such as registration, membership, and abstract management, they didn’t talk to each other. “The registration system was so locked down we couldn’t even make simple edits ourselves,” said Ulla Schröttner-Berning, IT Project Manager at CIRSE. “It could take up to four weeks just to get a registration page live and every change meant logging a support request.” 

The inefficiencies stretched beyond their technology. Teams were relying on email chains and spreadsheets to stay in sync, with constant back-and-forth between departments. On-site, they needed to fly in external staff just to manage presentation systems. 

“We weren’t working as one team. We were working around limitations,” Ulla shared.
