What Matters in Times of Crisis?

Let’s face it, it’s not an easy one out there. When we thought we had left behind one of the worst crises the events industry has ever faced, here we are with a new set of problems.

The good news is there is nothing like face-to-face and the world realized it. The role that events play on the global stage is clear to many. The crazy return of in-person events of 2022 will be one to remember. Venues hyper booked, and companies recruiting aggressively for planners.

It is what we hoped for when COVID hit. This is the comeback we were expecting.

    Not so fast.

Inflation, labor shortage, travel chaos, and new virus waves are just some of the current issues we have to deal with. Thankfully, they don’t shut the industry down, but certainly, they don’t make our life any easier.

I spent the past 15 years looking at event technology companies, and more recently, I had the pleasure to spend some time with the folks here at EventsAir. In one of the most tumultuous eras of technology, I witnessed an almost dystopian story of excitement, security, and confidence in the future.

The company recently received an injection of trust from Riverside Capital after 30 years of providing technology to events professionals and PCOs.

How could they be so optimistic about what is happening around us? Maybe it is because they’ve seen it all, virtual, hybrid, or in-person before they were called this way. Maybe it is because they have relationships so deep in the industry to know that crises come and go, but the business of events will never be replaced.

When listening to the story of EventsAir, it was immediately evident that this was a company dedicated to in-person event technology. One that understands hybrid and virtual events very well but appreciates the power of face-to-face.

Having reviewed hundreds of all-in-one event management platforms, the key question is always ‘what makes you special?’. I asked the same question when I talked to the team. The answer was clear, pricing model and support. Many companies claim the same, however, few can back it up with 30 years of examples and 300,000 events, including the Olympics.

The market is permeated by the world’s best, the world’s first, the best, and the top platform. Event professionals dismantle these claims in a matter of minutes into the demo call. It was evident to me that the game EventsAir played was different. It was about putting the planner first with a pricing model that helps save thousands of dollars compared to the major players. It was about making hybrid easy with a remotely managed PTZ camera system that slashes AV quotes by 80%.

Event professionals appreciate direct, practical solutions, and I was happy to spend some time with EventsAir to help them tell this story. I wish the team continued success and to stay true to their community mission.
